Fishing British Columbia - Fraser River LodgeA Luxury Wilderness & Fishing Resort on the Outskirts of Vancouver BC

Fraser River Fishing Report for September 2008

We are all excited here as fall is in the air and this means that the fishing is PRIME and the fish smoker is going. There is nothing like the smell of fresh smoked salmon and crisp air in the mornings to get you excited for the fall salmon runs and the aggressive Sturgeon.

Salmon

Salmon fishing in one word EXCELLENT! We have seen a strong run of Chinook on the Fraser over the last few weeks and expect the fishing to continue to be strong. Our record Chinook for the season so far weighed in at a very large 51lbs caught by Mr. Johnston from California.

Trout

Trout fishing has been good on our wilderness rivers and lakes. Our best day last week saw over 50 rainbows caught averaging 2-3lbs on the dry fly. In the next few weeks we expect fishing to pickup on some of our fall wilderness rivers.

Sturgeon

Sturgeon fishing has been excellent as well. These past few weeks’ sturgeon have been averaging 6-8 feet with the largest sturgeon last month caught at 114 inches (9.5 feet). As we get closer to fall we see the number of Sturgeon caught and size of the sturgeon increase significantly. We are looking forward to breaking the world record this year with the first ever IGFA sturgeon tournament being held at the lodge.
