Fishing Report 01st September - 15th September, 2011
Pinks, pinks & pinks...
The Pink salmon have invaded our Fraser River in numbers close to the 30 millions and pretty much all of our guests are limiting out daily over the last couple of weeks.
We catch these small fighters on spinners, jigs and flies... Most of them are in the weight class from 4 lbs up to 8 lbs and give you lots of fun on light tackle. But we have seen and landed some heavy weight pinks over 10 lbs and up hitting the 16 lbs.

We fly-fish the pink salmon mostly on light weight class 5 to 7 and the flies they seem to attack the most, is pretty pink...

Amazing surroundings to fly fish wherethe salmons literally were swimming between our legs in their way upriver.
The weather is perfect and salmon are taking the fly jigs and lures all day long.
Standing in the river and enjoying these unforgettable moment. Don`t you wish you would just be here in fishing paradise?

In between all the pink fishing we alsohad some good runs with Sockeye and
King salmon.
Sockeye were on a daily basis but the
Kings we had some days to work hard for
to get in tough with.
Weather was also a bit changing here
beginning of September. Some days rainy
with chill winds and next day sunny with
temperatures up hitting 28 degrees.

Running the jet-boats up river to the fishing spots our guides often have to be on look out for drifting timber and other big objects floating downriver. This day they came across a swimming black bear;)

Fraser River Sturgeon
Sturgeon fishing has been challenging first period of September...
The first week of September the sturgeon fishing slowed down a bit and it seemed they were overfull from all the pink salmon invading the river. But second week the action was returning and days with up to 10 or 15 sturgeon a day was back in the game... Several giant sturgeons was lost in the second week. We had one boat who simply got spooled by a big sturgeon for 300 meter line in no time. Boat lifted anchor trying to follow up on it, but it was to late... Other boats fought some giants for an hour without ever seeing the fish and later it was lost.

The Fraser River Lodge fleet will do its best to get you into fish out on the river.
Our motivation and drive is as high as
the clients if not higher at some times.
We know there are lots of fish out there
and some biggies as well. The excitement
is you never know what will strike next on your bait. A 50 lbs or a 500 lbs... But the
joy and fun is as great if you catch small
one or a biggie...

Wilderness & Trout Fishing
Strong Bull Trout in the river & Wild Rainbow in the lake...
We fly fish for trout i the small side rivers of the Fraser where beautiful Bull Trout and Dolly Varden is taking streamers fished deep in the pools... These trips are also amazing scenery trips where the nature and often seen wildlife goes up in a higher unit. We BBQ salmon steaks & bison sausage on these expeditions and with some good BC wine this is as good as it gets...

Sockeye spawning grounds.
Some lake fishing after wild rainbow a bit north from our lodge. The way up to the lake is a beautiful trip through the Canyon along the Fraser River. Fishing here is only for fly-fishermen. Lake is fished by very few people and it holds magnificent rainbows up to 18 lbs... Fly instruction can be arranged on request!
