Pitt River Fishing British Columbia

Fishing the Pitt River in British Columbia is a journey of a life time. We highly recommend our guests to fish this area at least for 1 day during their visit to our lodge. We fish for salmon from July to November and for a variety of trout year round. We have guides who are specialized in this remarkable wilderness area.

The Pitt River is accessible by crossing Pitt Lake, about 1 hour outside Vancouver. The only access is by helicopter or jet boat. The area is cut off from any city or access and is a preserved Eco system where black and grizzly bears, Roosevelt elk, cougar, bobcat, deer, bald eagles and endless other species call home.

Please have a look at our “Hooked” video and see for yourself what we have to offer in this river system. Our guides were one of the first guides in Canada to be licensed on that river system. We know every corner and stream, every tributary and riffle. Experience is everything when it comes to fishing waters like that. Some of our guides are in a league of their own and when you book this trip, you know what we are talking about.

Salmon fishing on the Pitt River starts is July with the migration of the largest and heaviest sockeye salmon in the world, followed by big chinook salmon, also known as king salmon by our American friends. September and October is the time where the silvers, also known as coho salmon show up. This is a very special time of the year when you can see the fish in the deeper pool and slow moving water taking eagerly your fly or spoon.

Steelhead trout are in the Pitt River during March and April. We fly fish for steelhead either single or double handed (spey), but also spin, spoon and float fish with some of our proven colors or blades and fly patterns.

The waters can be low and difficult to access with a large boat. That is why our boat philosophy on the Pitt River is 'as small as possible, as big as necessary'. We have custom built aluminum boats weighing only 800 lbs., for running the Pitt River. They are light enough to carry 4 guests at the time through 4 inches of water. Anything bigger and you are limited by how far you can get up the river during low water.
