Fishing Report for May 2008

On Saturday May 10th we held our “4th Annual Sturgeon Tournament. The turn out this year was amazing in support of the Agassiz Fire Department. 17 boats took off from Island 22 in pursuit of “the big one” and for a chance to win some great prizes back at the lodge. There were several large fish caught out of the 70 fish caught in total, with the first place fish coming in at 88inches. Congratulations Elmer for winning the grand prize of an all inclusive fishing trip for 4 people at the Fraser River Lodge. There were many other great prizes awarded for the other large fish caught including a Helicopter tour from Valley helicopter, River rafting with Hyak Wilderness, Makita tools, golf passes and many more. Overall we were able to raise $2,800 for the Agassiz Fire Department. Thank you for everyone who helped make this event a great success!

As the fresh net begins we are starting to see the rivers rise. During this time we will continue to have great days for Sturgeon and will pursue multiple species of trout on our wilderness rivers & heli fishing lakes.

Fishing Report for March 2008

STEELHEAD & TROUT

To say that this year is one of our best seasons ever for steelhead & trout is right on the mark! Mother Nature was very good to us so far. The rivers are gin clear, the action for steelhead & trout is good and even the weather is nice. Our most popular way to fish for steelhead is via raft or walk and wade. We not only fish rivers in the immediate area of our lodge, but also some incredible wilderness rivers and lakes with great success either on fly or spinning gear. If you want in on the action give us a call and we can arrange for you to be on your way up one of our wilderness rivers in a custom jet boat or in a helicopter to one of our remote lakes.\

. .

STURGEON

We are back in the chase for the big White Sturgeon. Our guides are out on a daily basis and sturgeon fishing has picked up significant over the last week with water temperatures warming up. The cycle of the sturgeon has been turned as they have started feeding actively. You can expect to catch sturgeon everyday with our guides as they have the know how to get you into some great Sturgeon action. Our boats are all covered and heated so you can expect nothing more than comfort while you wait for the Sturgeon to take the bait!

.

STURGEON TOURNAMENT MAY 10th, 2008

We have a sturgeon tournament coming up on May 10th, 2008. This marks our 4th annual fundraiser. This year’s beneficiary is the “Agassiz Fire Department”, a group of dedicated fireman who help save lives every year, regardless of putting their own safety on line. Cost per corporate boat is CAD 800 and cost per individual is CAD 200. After the guided fishing you are invited back to the lodge for the award dinner with a fabulous buffet and many outstanding prizes. Please e-mail at office@fraserriverlodge.com or call our office at 604-796-1210 to sign up.

We still have spots open for some prime salmon and sturgeon fishing either at our all inclusive lodge, outpost lodge or at one of our partner facilities such as the beautiful “Seabird Island Cabins”
Check out our “fishing package” section on our website to view a wide variety of packages for every budget. Either way you still have the guarantee to head out with our top fishing guides!

Fraser River Fishing Report  Dec. 24th, 2007

An exciting 2007 season comes to an end. Whenever we think it doesn`t get any better, each new year seems to top the previous One. 2007 had it`s challenges with some changes, at the end all for the good. Also many exiting things happened. We finally completed our new lodge - after 12 years in business and 4 long years in contstant contruction. The result is, arguably, one of the most stunning lodges/resorts ever built in one of the best locations anywhere in North America. We offer in 2008 more rivers, streams and lakes to fish in than ever before, we have booked more weddings in 2008 than in the past years combined, our corporate bookings in 2007 alone matched the past 10 years of corporate business combined, our spa is so busy, that we often had to hire extra staff to satisfy the demand, the gift shop sold more merchandise and organic bison meat than we sold the past years combined and our conference facility seems to be THE meeting location in the Vancouver area ....

It is remarkable, that our small, but highly motivated team achieves more success than most hotels or resorts 10 times our size. Is it because we have no weak link amongst our team, is it because everybody is treated like family? Must be. For me personally I can see for the first time in 12 years that I actually can take time off with my teammate and wife Anne and our 4 children. The office is covered by very capable staff members and our 10 trade shows we attend over the winter months are mostly done without myself.

A special thanks goes to our Chef Dan Cool. A gourmet chef with the "Sleeves up and let`s get it on" mentality. Helpful to our breakfast and lunch staff in a way we have never experienced it before. Our Chrismas parties for 2008 are already 35% sold out thanks to his AWOME gourmet meals and thanks to our professional staff.

Time to stop and take a few days off. We sceduled the Christmas week off. A well deserved rest for our team.

We are sold out New Years Eve and than continue with Christmas parties in January followed by our "Corporate Retreat" to the only 5-star ocean front resort in Victoria, spouses included.

It is now time to say THANK YOU to our guests and supporters. Without you, this ferrytale success couldn`t have happened. 2007 had 40% more bookings than the previous year and 2008 is already amazingly booked with fishing packages, weddings, corporate retreats and meetings, getaways and of course our restaurant - the only restaurant in the entire Fraser Vally of it`s kind. The restaurant is only open by reservation and is sceduled around our fishing, wedding and corporate groups.

Our entire team wishes you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosper year of 2008.

Fraser River Fishing Report  Nov. 1st, 2007

Lots of fresh fish have been moving into the Harrison & Fraser and we have been doing exceptionally well for Chum & Coho. November is an anglers dream as it offers great fly fishing and conventional methods for large salmon.

November is also an excellent month for Sturgeon. Last week we had double and triple headers with the largest fish measuring in at 8.5 feet.

We expect this month to produce great Sturgeon numbers & sizes, as well as good numbers of Chum & Coho.

The water remains high in the smaller rivers like the Chehalis, Stave & Vedder, however dropping water is the best condition to catch Coho and we look forward to the rivers dropping this week.

Fraser River Fishing Report  Sept. 29th, 2007

The Fraser and Harrison have been fishing extremely well this week with Sturgeon. Sturgeon are very aggressive this time of year as they are gorging on all of the salmon. This makes for an unbelievable battle as the fish have incredible girth. Our boats have been catching record numbers of sturgeon daily all with average sizes of 6 feet . The biggest sturgeon we caught this week was today and measured 114 inches (9.5 feet long) the battle lasted well over 2.5 hours with many impressive jumps and lots of runs.

Salmon fishing has also been impressive. There are still lots of pinks around to be caught on the fly and a fresh run of Chinooks has also moved into the river. Coho and Chum which have picked up in significantly in the last few days and we anticipate a great run of both in the coming months.

We are still offering our last minute special which saves you an amazing 50% off of our all inclusive packages at the lodge. We are now in the best fishing months of the year for Salmon and Sturgeon so I encourage you to take advantage of this offer as the entire experience is one of a kind.

Fraser River Fishing Report  August 14th, 2007

Salmon Fishing

As the river is dropping the Salmon fishing is getting hotter and hotter. Our boats are bringing in fantastic numbers of Chrome Chinook daily, with the largest Chinook weighing in at over 45lb’s and the average weighing around 30lbs. Everyone get your fly rods ready as we caught our first pink salmon of the season this year and we anticipate an extremely good run of pinks to start in the next few weeks. Good numbers of sockeye are in the river; however it is still not open for retention. We are expecting to hear more early next week when and if the opening will be.

Sturgeon Fishing

Sturgeon fishing has been great and the sturgeon have been putting up great fights for our guests. We are steadily catching 6 & 7 footers with the largest one this month coming in at 9 feet. Sturgeon fishing is going to be getting even better as the salmon move into the rivers and they begin to feed. We are looking forward to catching some more 11 footers soon.

We have finished the grand opening of the lodge and our new spa, gym, conference room and gift shop are all open and actively running. We are very much looking forward to seeing many new and old faces this year as we launch into a very busy and promising season.

Sturgeon Fishing

Sturgeon Fishing has been good overall in the past weeks. We did have a charity tournament last weekend with over 40 sturgeon landed. Trout and Wilderness Fishing has been spotty over the last days, as the rivers and streams are rising consistantly. Best fishing is on our wilderness rivers and interior lakes.

Lodge

It has been a very special time for us. We have done so many updates to the lodge, that we can say it is almost done. The lodge is finally completed within the next little while with the last details. It took us 11 years of hard work and guts to reach this point. Thanks to the support of my family, we were able to create one of the most stunning and unique lodges/resorts in North America. We are delighted to give you a tour of the complete lodge with all the little things, that make a difference, when you are here for a visit.

Our gift shop/tackle shop carries items which are unique. Native jewellery, bison meat, cook books for salmon and bison, high end fishing tackle, merchandise, custom made knives, and other interesting items. The spa carries the signature of my wife - natural colors, rock, wood and stone. Our gym was set up with cardio as the main focus plus a smith machine and dumbbell sets. Our state of the art conference/meeting facility creates the WOW effect. Typical comment from our corporate guests: "I want to move in".

We expect an exceptional 2007 with over 30,000,000 (Thirty Million) salmon, phenomenal sturgeon fishing and great trout fishing.
